The method involves dividing a filter housing (2) of a filtering apparatus (1) into a raw gas and clean gas chambers (10, 11) by a filter element (9) i.e. high efficiency particulate arresting (HEPA) filter cell. The raw gas and clean gas chambers are isolated from a clean gas channel by a raw and clean gas flaps (3, 5), respectively. A disinfectant is introduced into the raw gas and clean gas chambers through a set of terminals (21-25, 28, 30-32, 34-36, 38, 39) and led out from the raw gas and clean gas chambers through the terminals. An independent claim is also included for a filtering apparatus with a filter housing that is divided into a raw gas space and a clean gas chamber by a filter element.
