The tool has a recess i.e. through hole, provided in a retaining surface. A flexible circuit board is laid on the surface. An air-permeable supporting structure (11) is connected with a vacuum connection to a passage of the surface and added in a region of the recess. The supporting structure is constructed from three-dimensional unit cells with certain geometry, where the unit cells are arranged to each other in a regular pattern. The supporting structure is formed by a space grid. The surface comprises a contour, which corresponds to a planned contour of the board. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing tool to support a flexible circuit board during assembly of an electrical component.
