VEHICLE CONTROL DEVICE AND HYBRID VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device and a hybrid vehicle, for notifying a pedestrian or the like about approach of the vehicle without needing a speaker or a sound source generation device.

SOLUTION: The vehicle control device includes: a position detection part 21 detecting a present position; a map data storage part 22 storing map data; a specific area decision part 23; and a vehicle control part 27. The specific area decision part 23 decides a travel of a specific area from the map data from the map data storage part 22 and the present position from the position detection part 21. The vehicle control part 27 outputs a control signal for making a drive control part 16 increase output of an engine 10 and charging surplus output of the engine 10 into a battery 15 when information from the drive control part 16 controlling drive by an electric motor 11 and at least one of drive by the engine 10 of the vehicle and the charging into the battery 15 indicates the drive using the electric motor 11 and when information from the specific area decision part 23 indicates the middle of the travel in the specific area.
