METHOD FOR PRODUCING ETBE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high-purity ETBE (ethyl tert-butyl ether) in good yield by a simple method, enabling the enlargement of an apparatus and the practical use thereof.

SOLUTION: The method for producing the ETBE includes a reactive distillation step S3 of obtaining the ETBE by subjecting a hydrocarbon containing isobutene and ethanol to reactive distillation in a distillation column in the presence of a reaction catalyst; and an ETBE distillation step S4 of obtaining the ETBE by subjecting the residue in the reactive distillation step S3 to the reactive distillation in a high-pressure condition.
