PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently widen a viewing angle and to easily correct the variation in viewing angle among display devices. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device has a first pixel electrode 5a and a second pixel electrode 5b formed by pixel and includes: a first capacitive electrode 17 forming a first compensation capacity Cs1 between the electrode itself and the first pixel electrode 5a; second and third capacitive electrodes 18 and 19 forming second and third compensation capacities Cs2 and Cs3 between the electrodes themselves and the second pixel electrode 5b; a first lateral electric field generating electrode 22 disposed on the outside of the first pixel electrode 5a; a second lateral electric field generating electrode 23 disposed on the outside of the second pixel electrode 5b; a first dielectric layer formed so as to divide a region provided with the first pixel electrode 5a into first and second regions; and a second dielectric layer formed so as to divide a region provided with the second pixel electrode 5b into third and fourth regions. A first voltage is applied to the first capacitive electrode 17 and the second capacitive electrode 18, and a second voltage is applied to the third capacitive electrode 19.
