PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost method for producing a quartz glass molding. SOLUTION: Six circular carbon plates of a width of 20 cm, a length of 30 cm, and a thickness of 3 cm are assembled together on a circular carbon plate of a thickness of 1 cm and a diameter of 50 cm to form a regular hexagonal prism outer cylinder, and the outside of the cylinder is fixed with a specially carbon jig. Further, carbon felt is applied to the bottom and inside surface of the cylinder. A cylindrical quartz glass preform of a diameter of 29 cm and a height of 24 cm is placed inside the regular hexagonal prism and is molten by heating to 1,700°C for 3 hours to obtain a regular hexagonal prism quartz glass molding of a side of 20 cm and a height of 15 cm.
