PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time for the recognition of a kind of a substrate to which a node ID is assigned and a time for data transmission, in the substrate 2 constituting a communication device and having a function of ARCNET communication. SOLUTION: The substrate has a function for performing the communication of information, a function for previously storing a substrate kind of the substrate, a function for acquiring a chassis number and a slot number of the communication device in which the substrate is inserted, a function for assigning a substrate serial number to the substrate inserted in the communication device based on the substrate kind, the chassis number, and the slot number, a function for making the node ID, the substrate kind, the chassis number, the slot number, and the substrate serial number and storing them in the storing means, a function for transmitting information including the node ID, the substrate kind, and the substrate serial number associated with one another into the other substrate inserted in the communication device, and a function for deciding a transmission destination node based on the substrate kind and the substrate serial number.
