PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaner equipped with a cam system for independently operating a needle body of a compound needle and a slider. SOLUTION: The cleaner 100 that is attached to a flat knitting machine 200 equipped with the compound needle and removes dust from the vicinity of a hook of the needle body includes a base 1 slid along a needle bed, a plurality of bolt cams constituted to retractably project, an air nozzle 3 for removing dust in the vicinity of the hook by air, and a mechanism for changing the projecting/retracting state of the bolt cam to any of an projecting/retracting state in which both the needle body and the slider are operated, an projecting/retracting state in which only the needle body is operated and an projecting/retracting state in which only the slider is operated.
