There is provided a culture observation system by which an approximate dimension of cells which are observed by a microscope while being cultured can be recognized at one view. A culture observation system according to the invention includes a culturing cabinet 2 for forming an environment suitable for culturing cells, an image pick-up device 3 for photographing a microscopic image of the cells, a display 4 for displaying the photographed microscopic image, and a computer 5 for controlling the display of the display 4. The computer 5 movably displays a predetermined scale in the microscopic image displayed on the display means 4.
