The invention relates to a mite-based composition, which comprises a population of species of predaceous mites of the family Phytoseiidae, on the condition that a predaceous mite does not relate to the speciesand a population of an artificial host, which comprises a species selected from the family Glycyphagidae, which is used for rearing the predaceous mites of the family Phytoseiidae. The invention also relates to a method for biological control of pests on agricultural plants using said composition and a method for rearing species of the predaceous mites of the family Phytoseiidae, on the condition that a predaceous mite does not relate to the species
