PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and equipment for molding a disk substrate which is constituted so as to reduce a release failure to reduce a signal abnormality of a disk-shaped recording medium caused by the release failure. SOLUTION: When the disk substrate is molded using the molding equipment 1 equipped with one set of a fixed mold 3 and a movable mold 4 for molding the disk substrate 2 of the disk-shaped recording medium and the outer periphery ring 6 provided at the movable mold 4 to mold the outer peripheral edge face 2a of the disk substrate 2 and made possible to advance and retreat in parallel to the moving direction of the movable mold 4 to the fixed mold 3, the outer periphery ring 6 is moved in a retreat direction with respect to the movable mold 4 at the time of opening the fixed mold 3 and the movable mold 4.
