PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermistor element that can enhance the resistance furthermore and can carry out broader resistance control, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The thermistor element includes a metal oxide sintered compact 2 for thermistor in which at least a pair of insertion holes 2a are formed, and at least a pair of lead wires 3 inserted into the insertion holes 2a and bonded to the metal oxide sintered compact 2 for thermistor, wherein a hollow hole 2b is formed in the metal oxide sintered compact 2 for thermistor.
