An apparatus for generating electricity using photovoltaic panels comprises a mounting structure (2) for a plurality of photovoltaic panels (3) and which can rotate about an axis of rotation (A) and is positioned in such a way that the axis of rotation (A) is inside a zone (4) at least partly surrounded by a traffic roundabout or road junction (5).
