The present invention provides a method and device for transmitting and receiving notification messages for presence service. The method includes: a transmission end clusters the notification messages for presence service to obtain clustered contents (11); the transmission end transmits the clustered contents through media channels to the reception end, and transmits indication messages through signaling channels to the reception end, wherein the indication messages are used for notifying the reception end of the arrival of the clustered contents, and carrying the information of the media channels (12). The embodiments of the present invention can reduce the signaling consumption and the cost.
