An independent claim is included for the reduction of chromium(VI) ions in cement or cement-containing products, comprising mixing the cement or cement-containing products with the composition in such a way that, in the mixture, the concentration of iron(II) and/or antimony(II) ions is at least 2x 10 ->6>% per ppm for reducing chromium(VI) and the concentration of tin(II) ions is at least 2x 10 ->5>% per ppm for reducing chromium(VI).
