Disclosed is an abnormality detection device which can accurately detect if abnormalities are present in a fuel property detection device. The disclosed abnormality detection device for a fuel property detection device is provided with: a fuel property detection device having a sensor unit which is arranged in a fuel path; a temperature detection means which detects the temperature of the fuel in the vicinity of the sensor unit; a heater which can increase the temperature of the fuel in the vicinity of the sensor unit; and an abnormality determination means which can determine whether or not abnormalities are present in the fuel property detection device, on the basis of the temperature detected by the temperature detection means when the heater has been operated. The abnormality determination means includes a fuel flow abnormality determination means which determines whether or not fuel flow abnormalities are present in the vicinity of the sensor unit, and a fault determination means which determines whether or not a fault is present in the fuel property detection means itself. It is preferable that a determination is carried out by the fault determination means when the abnormality determination means determines that there is no fuel flow abnormality in the vicinity of the sensor unit.
