摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal reflection type liquid crystal device which can obtain beautiful white display, excellent color balance, and bright display at a low cost and further suppress the occurrence of flicker and image persistence. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal device 31 includes a first substrate 1, a second substrate 2, a liquid crystal layer 3, a reflecting electrode 4 disposed on the side facing the second substrate 2, of the first substrate 1, a first insulating film 5 disposed on the reflecting electrode 4, and a first inorganic alignment film 6 disposed on the first insulating film 5. When a refractive index of the liquid crystal layer 3 is represented by nlc and a refractive index of the first insulating film 5 is represented by n1 and a refractive index of the first inorganic alignment film 6 is represented by n2, n1c>n2>n1 is satisfied. When an optical film thickness of the first inorganic alignment film 6 is represented by r2, 50&le;r2&le;150 is satisfied.
