PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate an amplitude limiting amplifier circuit with reduced power consumption. SOLUTION: In an amplitude limiting amplifier circuit LA, each of pulses contained in an electric signal Pout obtained by performing photoelectric conversion on an optical signal Pin is amplified to a fixed amplitude by a main amplifier circuit 12, and an optical signal interruption detecting signal LOS indicating signal interruption of the optical signal Pin is generated based on the electric signal Pout by an optical signal interruption detecting circuit 14.
