PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high coercivity magnetic recording medium that is compatible with a conventional read/write device and ensures safety against an external magnetic field, and a reading/writing method to the recording medium, in order to meet the requirements to a card manufacturer or a device manufacturer for increasing the coercive force of a magnetic card for bank having no change in magnetic characteristics. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium including a magnetic recording part formed on a card base body made of a non-magnetic material, a magnetic layer formed in the magnetic recording part is constituted of a magnetic body whose coercive force is reduced by pressurization and is restored when released from the pressurization.
