Disclosed is an airbag that expands rapidly but does not cause choking. The disclosed knee airbag (100), inside which a cylindrical inflator is contained, is provided with an insertion hole (124), through which the inflator (122) is inserted into the airbag from the outside, and a diffuser (252). The diffuser, inside which the inflator inserted through the insertion hole goes, has a tube-shaped section (253) formed by folding a hexagonal piece of cloth at one of the diagonals of the hexagon, thereby layering two essentially-congruent trapezoids of cloth with left-right symmetry with the upper bases thereof being the aforementioned diagonal (254), and sewing the cloth sections corresponding to the bottom bases (256) of the trapezoids to the base cloth of the airbag. The inflator is inserted near said bottom bases (256) of the tube-shaped section. On both sides of the part of the diffuser (252) corresponding to the aforementioned bottom bases, first fold lines (186), which are essentially orthogonal to the long direction of the diffuser, are formed in the airbag.
