PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus which can transfer only a content seemingly then required by a user without compelling the user to conduct various types of setting works. SOLUTION: An automatic-transfer/automatic-recording reservation control module 131 first obtains program information of a possessed content (broadcasting program data) from an external device (portable telephone 2). On the basis of the obtained program information, the automatic-transfer/automatic-recording reservation control module 131 searches a program having the same name from a recording area. In the presence of a content having the same name but new in recording time and date, the automatic-transfer/automatic-recording reservation control module 131 selects one of the same name contents to be transferred on the basis of previous settings of, for example, (1) all programs, (2) a program having the latest broadcast time and date, and (3) a program having the oldest broadcast time and date; and then transfers the selected program to the external device.
