PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oral cavity cleaning instrument which enables a user to easily operate to clean while operating to open and close a hollow branched passage opening when he/she switches to hold a handle in various directions. SOLUTION: The oral cavity cleaning instrument 10 includes a bar-shaped body having a hollow passage for suction in an axial direction as a basic frame and head side openings 12a, 12b of the hollow passage and a sponge 13 in a head part 21, a tail side opening 14 of the hollow passage, and a connecting part 15 to a suction device in a tail part. In a body part, a handle part 16 bulging in the entire circumferential direction from an axial center is provided. In the handle part 16, the opening 18 of a hollow branched passage branching from the hollow passage is formed, and two recessed parts 17 with the hollow branched passage opening 18 in between are formed. When the oral cavity cleaning instrument is seen in cross-section, the hollow branched passage opening and the recessed parts are in a positional relationship in such a manner that anglesθ<SB>1</SB>andθ<SB>2</SB>between the center of the hollow branched passage opening 18 and the centers of the recessed parts 17 with respect to the axial center are each 80-140°.
