PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user-friendly automatic bread making machine capable of appropriately accommodating both of cases using cereal grains as the starting material and using flour as the starting material. SOLUTION: The automatic bread making machine makes a chunk of bread by a method wherein different bread containers into which bread raw materials are introduced are used for the first case using the grain as the starting material and the second case using the flour as the starting material. In the first case, the first bread container 60 is housed in a baking chamber 30 provided inside a main body; in the second case, the second bread container (not shown in the figure) is housed in the chamber 30. A bread container detecting unit 120 is provided for detecting that the container is housed in the chamber 30 only when either of the first container 60 or the second container is housed in the chamber 30.
