<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update a route information table inside each network device in the environment where a plurality of network devices, for each of which a controller having a control function is different, coexist or where a plurality of network devices belonging to different networks with an uncontrollable network device therebetween coexist. <P>SOLUTION: A network system is comprised of a network (NW) device in which packet transfer and route control functions are separated; an external controller having a route control function; and a conventional incompatible network (NW) device internally having a control function. In such a network system, the external controller sets to a network (NW) device next to the incompatible network (NW) device on a route a list of route information subsequent to the network (NW) device.
