PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal glass plate support structure which enables the easy replacement of a glass plate constituting a glass screen and which is reduced in size and simplified in structure, and to provide the glass screen. SOLUTION: This glass plate support structure 12 includes a body 20 the base end 20A of which is supported on the body of a building, indoor side pressing members 22 which are attached to the front end side of the body 20, which are disposed on both the left and right sides of the cross joint part of the glass screen 10, respectively, and which press the glass plates 14 from the indoor side, a pair of self-weight support members 24 which are engaged with the indoor side pressing members 22 slidably within predetermined movable ranges a, respectively, which are disposed at the joint parts between the glass plates 14, respectively, and which are brought into contact with the lower side parts of the glass plates 14 for supporting the self-weights of the glass plates 14, respectively, and a pair of outdoor side pressing members 26 which are detachably engaged with the front ends of the self-weight supporting members 24 projecting from the joint parts, respectively, and which press the glass plates 14 from the outdoor side, respectively.
