The alarm (1) has a fire alarm module (3) and a room monitoring module (4) arranged in cabinets (2), where the fire alarm and room monitoring modules include evaluation units (5, 10), fire sensors (6, 7) and room sensors (11-13), which measure pre-designated room characteristic. A signal of the evaluation unit is supplied for evaluation to provide an output signal depending on the evaluation result at an output (15) connected with an external control unit (17). The fire alarm module and the room monitoring module are functionally operated and interchanged from each other.
