PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-stage rotary expander reduced in a sliding loss in a bearing. SOLUTION: The two-stage rotary expander includes two cylinders 15, 16. A first vane is arranged in a first groove formed at the first cylinder 15. In the second cylinder 16, a second groove 16a is formed at a position advanced by a predetermined angle in the rotating direction opposite to the rotating direction of a shaft 13 from the position of the first groove. A second vane 22 is arranged in the second groove 16a. The position of the first vane in the circumferential direction of the shaft 13 is defined as a first reference position, the position of the second vane in the circumferential direction of the shaft is defined as a second reference position, and the predetermined angle with respect to the second reference position from the first reference position along the rotating direction opposite to the rotating direction of the shaft 13 is defined asϕ(0°<ϕ<90°). On the bearing surface of the bearing 17, a recessed portion is formed in a range from 90°to (180°-ϕ) in the rotating direction of the shaft 13 when viewed from the first reference position.
