PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of increasing or adjusting a refractive index-improving effect by a dibenzothiophene skeleton-bearing compound, when supplying an article with a refractive index using the dibenzothiophene skeleton-bearing compound. SOLUTION: In the method which supplies the article with the refractive index using the dibenzothiophene skeleton-bearing compound represented by formula (I), the method of increasing the refractive index-improving effect by the compound includes condensing an A ring and/or B ring of formula (I) with an aromatic ring.
