The present invention relates to the use of cyclic peptides defined by the formula cycle(X1X2X3X4KFKKLQ), wherein X1, X2, X3 and X4 can be either K or L, for the preparation of a drug that inhibits cell growth. Furthermore, according to the invention said peptides are effective at inhibiting the proliferation of tumour cells and are therefore suitable for preparing a drug for the treatment or prophylaxis of tumours.
