<p>An elevator device which enables the braking ability of the braking device to be measured with the elevator car stopped. An elevator device comprises: a drive device for lifting and lowering the elevator car and the counterbalance weight; a main rope wrapped on the pulley of the drive device and suspending and holding the elevator car, etc.; a brake device for braking the pulley; and a control device for controlling the drive device and the brake device. The elevator device also comprises: an encoder for detecting the number of rotation of the pulley; and a brake provided to the brake device and having a coil which attracts a shoe when supplied with an electric current. The control device performs control for switching between operating modes. When the operating mode is in the mode for confirming the braking ability, the control device causes the brake device to stop the elevator car while the weight of the elevator car and that of the counterbalance weight are in an imbalanced state, controls the attraction current to the brake coil to gradually release the brake, measures the braking ability on the basis of the value of attraction current detected through the encoder at the time point when the elevator car starts to move, and determines that the braking ability is abnormal if the measured braking ability does not conform to a predetermined standard.</p> |
