METHOD FOR MODE DECISION ON COMBINED SCALABILITY

PURPOSE: A method for determining a mode in a combined scalability structure is provided to reduce the amount of calculation. CONSTITUTION: A mode and a method are determined using a correlation of space-time and quality expandability between a basic layer and an advanced layer in a scalable video coding structure. It is calculated as a complexity value has minimum level for a motion estimation. The complexity value is calculated by using a mode complexity, an average of a vector, and the complexity of a basic layer.
