PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery with more excellent cycle characteristics.

SOLUTION: An anode 10 includes an anode active material layer 102 in which a first layer 1 and a second layer 2 respectively containing silicon and a metal element as anode active materials are alternately layered on an anode current collector 101. Here, provided, A represents a silicon content in the anode active material in the first layer 1, and B represents a silicon content in the anode active material in the second layer 2, a relation expressed in a formula (1):1.02≤A/B≤50 is satisfied. With this, stress accompanying expansion and contraction at charging and discharging in the anode active material layer 102 is alleviated. As the result, adhesion and a current collection property between the anode active layer 102 and the anode collector 101 is improved.
