<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foreign matter detection device and method, reducing a false detection caused by a change in luminance of illumination and a change in luminance due to a structure of a target object. <P>SOLUTION: The foreign matter detection device is equipped with: a target pixel extraction means 621 of detecting luminance of pixels of an image obtained by imaging the target object and extracting, based on the luminance, a target pixel from all of the pixels; a luminance difference detection means (filter processing means 622) of detecting a luminance difference between the target pixel and each of a plurality of pixels surrounding the target pixel; and a foreign matter determination means 624 of determining the presence or absence of foreign matters, based on the luminance difference. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
