<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating method of a sensor capable of accurately measuring distance information by compensating a loss of photoelectron generated in the process of demodulation of optical signal. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a step in which, in each of first sections of a plurality of packets P-NP containing a first section T1 and a second section T2, respectively, each of a plurality of oscillation signals Pa and Pb having a phase different from each other is supplied to each of a plurality of photogates, in order to demodulate the optical signal having been output from a light source and then modulated.
