PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 5-norbornene-2-spiro-α-cycloalkanone-α'-spiro-2''-5''-norbornene that can suitably be used as a raw material compound for an alicyclic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride for use in producing an alicyclic polyimide having high optical transparency and sufficiently high heat resistance. SOLUTION: The 5-norbornene-2-spiro-α-cycloalkanone-α'-spiro-2''-5''-norbornene is represented by formula (1).
