PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a recording quality by improving the rewriting resistance of management areas for recording an RMD in particular, in a rewritable DVD disk. SOLUTION: When updating management information recorded in an R-information area along with recording of informational data onto such as a DVD-RW disk, dummy data of a pattern different from the management information to be updated is recorded in all the management areas. After moreover performing DC erasure, updated management information is recorded in a predetermined management area.
