PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding support structure for a balance shaft capable of reducing friction loss by generating a sufficient oil film pressure. SOLUTION: In the sliding support structure for a balance shaft supplying lubricating oil between sliding surfaces of the balance shaft 20 and a journal bearing 26 capable of relatively rotating, a sliding surface portion X of a shaft part 24 of the balance shaft 20 corresponding to a load concentrated portion of the balance shaft 20 and the journal bearing 26 is held from both sides, and areas Y with higher oil repellency than others are provided in sliding surface areas in at least an upstream side and a downstream side of a flowing direction of the lubricating oil.
