PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which more reduces a space increase required for mounting a housing temperature estimation function, as compared with prior art. SOLUTION: Based on the relationship of the housing temperature and change in the amount of TEC current in the state where the temperature corresponding to a signal output from a thermistor 7 has a predetermined target temperature value, the relationship of the estimation value of housing temperature, and the combination of the amount of TEC current and the temperature corresponding to a signal output from a thermistor 7, is specified. The housing temperature is estimated based on the specified relationship, the temperature corresponding to a signal output from a thermistor 7, and the amount of TEC current.
