A fuel cell membrane electrode assembly includes an anode electrode catalyst layer, a cathode electrode catalyst layer, and a polymer electrolyte membrane. A ratio of a pore volume occupied by pores with a pore size of 0.1μm or less is 70% or more in a pore volume occupied by pores with a pore size of 3μm or less formed in the anode electrode catalyst layer. The polymer electrolyte membrane is sandwiched between the anode electrode catalyst layer and the cathode electrode catalyst layer.
