<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently transmit parallax information to an external device together with image data. <P>SOLUTION: Together with image data (left-eye image data, right-eye image data), parallax information is transmitted by an HDMI interface. For example, stereoscopic image data are transmitted through a TMDS channel, the parallax information (set) is transmitted utilizing an HDMI Ethernet channel HEC channel (two-way communication line constituted of a pair of differential transmission lines including an HPD line (HEAC- line) and a utility line (HEAC+ line)). By utilizing the HEC channel, even in the case where a data amount of the parallax information increases when sending the parallax information for each pixel unit, the parallax information can be transmitted fast and stably. Information indicating the transmission of parallax information on the HEC channel is inserted to blanking period of image data.
