PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical medium with an interference layer having a high refractive index and further sufficiently securing preservability of the optical medium, and a sputtering target to be used for producing the interference layer, and a method for producing the optical medium.

SOLUTION: The optical medium 200 includes an optical recording layer 24, and the interference layer 22 disposed on and/or under the optical recording layer 24. The interference layer 22 includes 45-90 mol% of TiO2and a residue ZnO.
