PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for generating a spring back estimated shape of a press forming die wherein the spring back estimated shape of the press forming die allowing reduction of a forming error by comparatively simple geometric calculation as compared to conventional technique is obtained. SOLUTION: In this method and device for generating the spring back estimated shape of the press forming die, a restraint point set wherein displacement is zero is found in corresponding vertexes of meshes of a reference shape and a shape after spring back, the restraint point set is set as an initial correction-completed vertex set, a candidate point of an estimated shape vertex is calculated in a reference shape vertex which is included in the correction-completed vertex set and wherein one neighborhood vertex thereof is included in a non-correction vertex set, gravity center points of the candidate points are decided as estimated shape vertexes of non-correction vertex points thereof because there are normally a plurality of non-corrected one neighborhood vertexes, and processing of updating the vertexes to already corrected vertexes is repeated until there is no non-correction vertex to generate the spring back estimated shape.
