PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle seat reclining device achieving a smooth tilt motion of a backrest, while achieving inexpensive manufacturing costs. SOLUTION: In the seat reclining device 1, a latch mechanism 60 is disposed in a slider 30, and includes an engagement portion 69A that retreats from a rail 10 during operation, and advances along the rail 10 during non-operation; and engagement receiving portions 19A-19E which are disposed in the rail 10 and regulate sliding of the slider 30 on the rail 10 by engagement with the advanced engagement portion 69A. Clearances W1 and W2 in a width direction, which is a direction orthogonal to a rotating shaft center R1 that is a shaft center of the engagement portion 69A engaged with the engagement receiving portions 19A ..., and orthogonal to a center axis S1, are ensured between the rail 10 and the slider 30. The slider 30 is provided with rotating portions 45A and 45B which project radially outward from the rotating shaft center R1 so as to narrow the clearances W1 and W2, and allow the slider 30 to rotate around the rotating shaft center R1 with respect to the rail 10.
