PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skeleton member capable of reinforcing a predetermined position of the skeleton member which needs to be reinforced without hindering reduction of the weight of the skeleton member as a whole, and a method for manufacturing the skeleton member. SOLUTION: A reinforcement portion 15 is formed on a back plate 11 of a pillar 1. The reinforcement portion 15 is formed of micro-beads provided on a portion forming the back plate 11 after molding of a pillar material 2. The pillar material is hot-pressed when the pillar 1 is manufactured. The thickness of the micro-bead is increased by compressing the portion forming the back plate 11 after molding of the pillar material in the hot-pressing step.
