FUEL FORMULATIONS

A diesel fuel formulation containing (i) a fatty alcohol ester, (ii) an acid-based lubricity additive and (iii) an additional diesel fuel component. The ester (i) has the formula R1-C (0) -0-R2, in which R1 is for example either hydrogen or methyl and R2 is for example a C6 to C14 alkyl group. The invention also provides a process for preparing the fuel formulation, and its use in an internal combustion engine. Also provided is the use of a fatty alcohol ester and an acid-based lubricity additive to improve the lubricity of a diesel fuel formulation; and the use of a fatty alcohol ester either to improve the lubricity of a diesel fuel formulation which contains an acid-based lubricity additive, or to reduce the concentration of the additive in the formulation.
