<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine which reduces an amount of NOx generated during a high-load operation and also prevents performance deterioration of the engine during a low-load operation. <P>SOLUTION: This engine 1 includes a variable valve timing mechanism 37 changing the valve closing timing of an intake valve 16, and a supercharger 2 forcibly feeding air into a cylinder 11a by the use of exhaust gas energy. The variable valve timing mechanism 37 is so configured that, during the high-load operation, the valve closing timing of the intake valve 16 is set to timing earlier than an intake bottom dead center B, and, during the low-load operation, the valve closing timing of the intake valve 16 is set to timing later than that during the high-load operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
