PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage type water heater which performs the optimal drive control of a mixing valve, and has small temperature fluctuation range at tapping. SOLUTION: The storage type water heater includes: a hot water storage tank 3 for storing hot water; a heating means 1 which boils the hot water in the hot water storage tank to high temperature; a tapping pipe 17 through which the high-temperature water is tapped out of the hot water storage tank 3; a mixing means 19 which mixes the high-temperature water supplied from the tapping pipe 17 and water; and a flow volume detecting means 21 which detects the flow volume of the hot water supplied from the mixing means 19 to a hot-water supply terminal 22. While the heating means is in operation and the supply of the hot water to the hot-water supply terminal is stopped, the mixture ratio of the mixing means is made to have more water stepwise.
