PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a returnable container and a liner for the returnable container, which prevent slippage of an item being transferred such as a book and also prevent an item placed in a case or a cover and transferred from popping out of the case or the cover. SOLUTION: This returnable container (10) is provided with a bottom panel (14) and a side panel (12) extended upward from the periphery of the panel (14). The top face of the panel (14) has a slip preventive function and is formed with an inclined face (18) which inclines upward toward the outside direction so as to be recessed at least one receding position. Because the bottom panel is provided with the inclined face (18), a transferred item popping out of a case is caught by the face (18), preventing the item from hitting the side panel of the container hard and damaged.
