PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an ink-remaining amount without being affected by outer disturbance such as the surface tension of ink. SOLUTION: In an ink cartridge 201, a detected layer 270 arranged in an ink tank 60 is formed by an aggregate of many particles 271. When the detected layer 270 is positioned above the detecting position of a detecting part 40, light passes through between a light-emitting part 1014a and a light-receiving part 1014b so that a discrimination whether ink exists or not is made by a control substrate of an inkjet printer 1000. Meanwhile, when the detected layer 270 floating on the surface of the ink reaches the detecting position of the detecting part 40, the clearance between the light emitting part 1014a and the light receiving part 1014b is blocked by the detected layer 270, so that a discrimination that ink is near empty is made by the control substrate of the inkjet printer 1000.
