PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous detection in posture determination in an image pickup device while a shift lens for correcting resolution in zooming is moving. SOLUTION: An image pickup device, converting a light image, which enters an image pickup means via an image pickup optical system, to electric signals to output them, includes: a zoom unit; a correction means; a shift position-computing means which computes a shift position of a correction means for reducing light quantity and/or unevenness in resolution which vary (or varies) in accordance with a focal distance; a drive amount-computing means which computes the amount of the drive of a correction means for correcting swing; a position-detecting means which detects the present position of the correction means; a shift lens position-controlling part which finds the amount of the shift of a correction means for offsetting the swing on the basis of the shift position, the amount of the drive and the present position; a posture-detecting part which detects the posture of the image pickup device, with fixed cycles, on the basis of an integrated compensation value computed in a shift amount-finding process; and a control means which controls the posture-detecting part not to detect the posture while the shift position is varying.
